New Testament Assembly Wain Road

About Us

“A Vision Born in Prayer, A Family United in Christ”

The history of the Wain Road New Testament Assembly is one that reflects faith, prayer, and the leading of the Holy Spirit. It began with Rev. Jerusha Bourne, who gave her life to Christ as a youth and became a member of the Port Antonio New Testament Assembly. From the start, she served the Lord with great zeal, always ready to pray for the sick and encourage the downhearted. Her willingness to serve in almost every church group, including the choir, revealed her deep love for God’s work. This passion caught the attention of Bishop V. C. Peart, then Elder Peart, who recognized her calling and appointed her as an Evangelist.

In 1966, while seeking the Lord, Rev. Bourne received a vision to begin a mission in Wain Road. With nothing but faith and obedience, she started service in her yard in 1967. By 1968, God opened the door for a permanent location in Providence, Wain Road. Three years later, she was appointed Pastor. Together with the faithful support of her husband, Deacon James Bourne, and the power of the Almighty God, the little mission grew into a thriving church. Pastor Bourne served diligently, watching the congregation grow in numbers and strength, until she went home to be with the Lord in 1998.

The mantle of leadership then passed to Sis. Corine Peart, a faithful servant of the church since her youth. From her early years, she worked steadfastly as a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent, Choir Member, and Secretary. Her dedication led to her ordination as an Evangelist, and in 1992 she was promoted to the Pastoral Office. At Wain Road N.T.A, she made a lasting impact upgrading the Basic School, improving the church building, and extending her oversight to the Mill Bank Church. Beyond her local work, she also served the National Executive Board as National Youth Director and Secretary. Evangelist Peart poured her life into the ministry until the Lord called her to higher service on February 12, 2002.

After Evangelist Peart’s passing, Rev. Joyce Whyte took up the mantle of leadership. A virtuous woman who loves the Lord, she became not only a pastor but also a prayer warrior and spiritual mother to the congregation. Filled with grace and anointing, Rev. Whyte dedicated her life to the development and grooming of Wain Road N.T.A throughout her entire tenure as pastor. Her ministry left an indelible mark of love, prayer, and steadfast service that continues to shape the church today.

Today, the vision continues to live on under the leadership of Rev. Marlon Reid, who has guided the congregation since 2021. By God’s grace, the church has grown to 60 members—a close-knit family united in worship, service, and love. At Wain Road N.T.A, worship remains the heartbeat of our fellowship.

Over the years, the church has built strong ministries that continue to impact many lives. The Youth Ministry nurtures the next generation of leaders, the Ladies’ Ministry empowers women in their spiritual walk, the Men’s Ministry strengthens men as leaders in faith and family, and the Children’s Ministry lays the foundation of the Word in young hearts. Together, these ministries ensure that every stage of life is touched by the gospel.

The Wain Road New Testament Assembly stands today as a testimony of God’s faithfulness to His people. What began in a little yard with a few faithful believers has grown into a vibrant church family, led by the Holy Spirit and united in Christ. We carry forward the legacy of those who laboured before us, and with open hearts, we continue to serve God, love one another, and shine His light in the community.
