Declaration of Faith

The New Testament Assembly Jamaica firmly upholds the Holy Bible as the fully inspired and authoritative Word of God. We believe that every part of Scripture is divinely inspired and serves as the foundation for faith and practice. The New Testament Assembly Jamaica embraces the following Declaration of Faith as the official statement and standard of our doctrinal beliefs.

We Believe:

  1. The Holy Scriptures to be divinely inspired, infallible and the inherent Word of God. They are the sole and final authority for all matters of faith, doctrine, conduct and teaching. (2 Timothy 3:16)
  2. In one God eternally existing in three persons — The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
  3. That Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, buried and raised triumphantly from the dead. That He ascended into heaven and is today seated at the right hand of God as our intercessor. (Luke 1:26–35; John 1:14–18; Isaiah 7:14; 9:6)
  4. That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, that repentance is commanded of God for all and is a prerequisite for the forgiveness of sins. (Ephesians 2:8–9; Hebrews 9:12, 22; Romans 5:11)
  5. That justification, regeneration and the “new birth” are brought about by faith in the person of Jesus Christ and His atoning blood. (Romans 5:1–2; Titus 3:7; Acts 13:39)
  6. In water baptism by immersion, in the name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit subsequent to salvation. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:34–36; 19:1–6)
  7. In sanctification as an ongoing process subsequent to the new birth, through faith in Christ, the Word, by the blood of Christ, and through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit; the sharing of the Holy Sacrament (The Lord’s Supper) with all believers and the washing of the saints’ feet. (1 Corinthians 11:28–32; Matthew 26:26–28; John 13)
  8. Holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people. (Ephesians 5:18; 2 Corinthians 6:14; 7:1)
  9. In the baptism of the Holy Spirit evidenced by speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. (Acts 2:1–4; 8:14–17; 10:44–46; Galatians 3:14–15)
  10. The provision of Divine healing for all in the atonement. (Isaiah 53:4–5; Romans 8:11)
  11. In the rapture of the Church when the righteous dead will be raised and caught away with the living saints, and the pre-millennial second coming of Jesus Christ to reign on the earth a thousand years. (1 Thessalonians 4:13–18; 1 Corinthians 15)
